Fit for a warrior! A camakau is a traditional Fijian sailing vessel, owned by aristocrats and mainly used in naval battles and to transport warriors. These double-hull crafts were not dugout and averaged 12 metres in length. However, some were up to 30 meters long. The large upright V-shape of the sail allowed it to be attached to a low point on the mast, which prevented the sail and mast from snapping during high waves and storms. Models are now made for sale and to teach younger generations.
